David Burleigh is an experienced business advisor, consultant, coach and facilitator. He works with leaders, teams and organisations to build a culture of performance, increasing leadership impact and accountability, supporting teams in crisis, leading through complex change, navigating conflict, developing talent, aligning on team norms and behaviours, driving employee engagement and delivering results. He has tackled difficult issues in fast-paced and complex industries, including financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, sports, education, law enforcement, manufacturing, technology, energy, retail and telecom.
David works with his clients to create a mindset where they feel safe to be challenged and to identify and pursue goals worthy of their effort. He has helped teams move forward by recognizing and revising outdated beliefs, limiting assumptions and behaviour patterns that undermine their success. His passion is in enabling leaders to lead differently – having the critical discussions they’ve been unwilling or unable to have previously and empowering them to become more agile for today’s rapidly evolving business climate and workforce. His clients become equipped with a set of tools and experiences they can use to find creative ways to deliver on their goals and priorities.
David became a certified coach while leading a large integration team with PwC Canada as it undertook its largest acquisition ever at the time. Since then, he has been advising and coaching senior leaders and leadership teams at a number of leading Canadian and US companies, including BMO Financial, CBC, Lablaws, Napoleon, Tarion, Bristol Myers Squibb, Brother Mobile Services and CI Financial.
Prior to coaching, David spent over a decade leading teams through change in a variety of functional settings and roles, including human resources, operations, marketing, strategy, service delivery and sales. He has a proven track record of combining HR disciplines and a coach-like, principled leadership approach with general and lean management principles to develop people strategies in support of business strategies.
